Designing a luxury home gym

With more clients working from home, our studio has been commissioned to build a home luxury gym.  This was like Christmas coming early for me as my family owned a healthclub for over 50 years.  My father built his home gym from scratch  and started bodybuilding at the age of 16 and continued right into his eighties.  

When started he did not have a lot of money, so with his very creative engineer mind, he drew the equipment he wanted from looking at Ben Weider’s  muscle magazine and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s gym.  So my father‘s innovation will (my dad passed in 2019) will be guiding me on this project for my client.

The mood  board  shows the elements our client wanted in their gym.  They had allocated space for their gym and wanted an area for  weights, a cardio area  in front of their large double height window (they live in a barn conversion) and spa facilities.  As most client so, they provided an inspiration picture, 

We look forward to the upcoming meetings and then the reveal.  When designing a home luxury gym, the flooring us key as the area for the weights need a purposed mats.   We decided to use 12mm rubber floor mats for the weight area as my client wants to be able to do wide-stance squats and have the support under him.
